Dental Implants
Having loose or missing teeth can really dent your confidence, and at whatever age or for whatever reason, it can be a very traumatic experience. At Lister House Dental Centre in Harlow, Essex, we provide dental implants as a permanent, long-term solution for replacing missing teeth.
What are Dental Implants?
An implant is an artificial replacement for a natural tooth root when the tooth and its root are missing. The implant itself is a small but strong post made of a biocompatible material that is surgically inserted into the jawbone. This is then finished off with a restoration, such as a crown or denture, to replace the visible tooth.
Dental implants at Lister House Dental Centre are placed and restored by Bhasker, Raj and Neal Mehta, who have many years of experience in placing both simple and complex implants.
Single tooth
dental implants
If you have lost just one single tooth, an implant can provide a permanent, long-term solution.
Multiple teeth
dental implants
Dental implants can also support multiple teeth. This usually involves placing two implants to support a fixed bridge.
Full arch
dental implants
As an alternative to a denture, it is possible to replace all upper or lower teeth using just a few dental implants.
Dental implants
and dentures
Dentures can also be supported by just a few implants on the upper or lower jaw.
”"A big thank you to Malika and her team at Lister House Dental Centre. I have just completed treatment for a single implant and am very happy with the result. Everything was explained to me at each appointment and there was lots of opportunity to ask questions. I am so pleased and can now smile with confidence. I would recommend this treatment."

The Benefits of Dental Implants At Lister House Dental Centre
- Dental implants eliminate the discomfort and inconvenience associated with removable dentures. You won’t have to worry about adhesives, slipping dentures or dietary restrictions!
- When a tooth is lost, the underlying jawbone can deteriorate over time. Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, helping prevent bone loss and maintain your facial structure.
- Unlike traditional bridges that may require altering the adjacent teeth for support, dental implants can stand by themselves without affecting the neighbouring teeth.
- With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last for many years, making them a cost-effective solution in the long run!
- Dental implants restore your confidence, allowing you to smile, laugh and speak with ease, knowing that your smile looks and feels natural.
”"I recently had a tooth implant treatment with Dr Hindocha. From the very beginning she took the time to explain each step of the process in full and provided reading material to assist. The treatment itself was plain sailing - painless throughout with Dr Hindocha ensuring I was comfortable. The end result is exactly what I hoped for - a functioning tooth! I’d recommend to anyone looking for a professional service."

FAQs
Can everyone have implants?
Usually, but it depends on the condition of your jawbone. We will assess the quality and quantity of your bone using digital X-rays and images. If the bone is unsuitable, it may be possible to graft bone into the area to enable treatment.
Does it hurt to get implants?
Placing an implant is usually a simple procedure for skilled dentists. A local anaesthetic will numb the area, so you should not feel any pain. Post-surgery, you may have some residual pain and a little discomfort and swelling, but this can be treated at home with over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol.
How long do implants last?
As mentioned above, the life of the implant will be largely determined by the quality of at-home care and follow-up at regular clinical reviews. Well-maintained implants can be expected to last many years and often a whole lifetime.
Am I too young/old for implant treatment?
Implants are generally not placed for children until their late teens, when their jaw will have finished developing. There is, however, no upper age limit for dental implants, and they are successfully used by many older patients as an anchor for dentures.
